Virtual Network High Availability
NIC bonding combines two or more physical NICs into one logical interface. ZSphere supports two bonding modes:
- Link aggregation (mode
4): Aggregates 1 to 8 physical NICs with the same speed and duplex settings. Traffic is distributed across the NICs to balance utilization.Link aggregation selects an egress NIC by hashing packet attributes. Three hash policies are available:
- layer2+3: Uses the source MAC address, destination MAC address, and IP addresses to select the egress NIC.
- layer3+4: Uses IP addresses and ports to select the egress NIC. This policy supports the TCP/IP stack.
- layer2: Uses the source and destination MAC addresses to select the egress NIC.
- Active-backup (mode 1): Aggregates 1 to 8 physical NICs. One NIC is active and the others remain on standby. The active NIC carries all traffic. If it fails, a standby NIC takes over automatically to prevent service interruption.
