Monitoring and Alarms

Monitoring and alarms are provided through the monitoring and notification systems. The monitoring system tracks time-series data and events, while the notification system sends alarm messages to configured endpoints.

The monitoring system presents system performance, resource utilization, and other metrics through monitoring screens, dashboards, charts, and banner notifications. These views show ZSphere resource utilization, operating status, and health. You can also configure alarms and endpoints for fine-grained monitoring and prompt diagnosis of issues.

Characteristics of the monitoring system:
  • Time-Series Monitoring: The system currently supports monitoring two types of time-series data.
    • Resource Utilization Data: For example, VM CPU utilization and host memory utilization.
    • Resource Capacity Data: For example, the number of available IP addresses and the total number of running virtual machines.
  • Event Collection: Collects predefined events that occur in ZSphere, such as host disconnection and virtual machine high availability activation.
  • Alarms: Generates alarms for time-series data or events and provides global notifications for important resources, such as the available physical capacity of data storage.
  • Events: Records all operations and supports search.
  • Customization: Allows you to customize alarms and alert message templates.
Characteristics of the notification system:
  • Pushes alarm messages to specified endpoints.
  • The system provides a system endpoint by default. You can set other types of endpoints.
