Other Improvements and Fixes

Object Storage

New Object Storage Service

ZStack ZStone 4.3.0 introduces Object Storage as a separate feature module. It provides secure and efficient storage and management services for massive amounts of unstructured data.

Object Storage Module in the UI

ZStack ZStone 4.3.0 provides a new Object Storage resource management interface. After Object Storage is initialized, users can configure storage policies and centrally manage object gateways, object users, and buckets in the UI.

Access Control for Data Protection

ZStack ZStone 4.3.0 protects data transfer and access through three permission levels: user key pairs, user permissions, and ACL permissions.

A user key pair is the credential used by an object user to access Object Storage. The system automatically generates a key pair when an object user is created. ZStack ZStone 4.3.0 supports generating and deleting user key pairs.

ZStack ZStone 4.3.0 supports configuring an object user's permissions to access Object Storage. Read, write, and delete permissions are granted by default and can be combined based on workload requirements.

ZStack ZStone 4.3.0 supports granting specified ACL permissions to object users when a bucket is created, including READ, WRITE, READ_ACP, WRITE_ACP, and FULL_CONTROL. The bucket owner has FULL_CONTROL permission by default, which cannot be changed.

Storage Classes for Diverse Storage Requirements

ZStack ZStone 4.3.0 supports up to seven storage classes, storageclass_0 through storageclass_6. storageclass_0 is the default class added by the system. Users can add storage classes when creating a storage policy or from its details page. Each storage class maps to a separate data pool. Assigning object data to a storage class enables granular and flexible storage-space allocation and management.

Resource Management

Storage Pool Optimizations

New Object Storage Pools

ZStack ZStone 4.3.0 supports creating Object Storage pools after an Object Storage feature license is purchased and activated. Object Storage pools can serve as data pools, index pools, or compound pools and work with storage policies to meet different Object Storage data requirements.

EC as a Data Redundancy Type

In previous versions, storage pools supported only replica-based data redundancy. Starting from ZStack ZStone 4.3.0, EC is supported with recommended and custom policies. EC can be selected as the redundancy policy when an Object Storage pool with the Data Pool role is created.

Object Storage System Resource Pools

Object Storage system resource pools are automatically created during initialization to store Object Storage metadata. After initialization, users can view all system resource pools on the Object Storage System Resource Pool tab.

Optimized Storage-Pool Deletion Logic

ZStack ZStone 4.3.0 adds deletion validation and risk prompts for Object Storage pools to prevent data loss caused by accidental deletion.

Data Disk Optimization

Upgraded Interaction Design for Data-Disk Creation

ZStack ZStone 4.3.0 optimizes the interaction logic and visual experience of the data-disk creation page based on actual usage patterns, helping users get started quickly.

Server Optimizations

Optimized Server Resource Naming

Starting from ZStack ZStone 4.3.0, the Host resource in the Hardware Resource module is renamed Server for more consistent and standardized terminology.

New Object Storage Gateway Role

Starting from ZStack ZStone 4.3.0, servers can have the Object Storage Gateway role, which provides Object-interface access between servers and the storage cluster. Object gateways can be enabled on these servers to provide the S3 protocol and gateway services.

Optimized Server Deletion Logic

ZStack ZStone 4.3.0 adds deletion validation and risk prompts for servers with the Object Storage Gateway role to prevent accidental deletion from making Object Storage inaccessible or causing data loss.

Monitoring Management

New Object Storage-Related Alarms

Starting from ZStack ZStone 4.3.0, multiple Object Storage resource alarm rules monitor quota utilization and service status in real time. An alarm is triggered when a related resource reaches an alarm threshold, allowing users to promptly and accurately understand cluster resource usage.

License Management

New Object Storage Feature License

ZStack ZStone 4.3.0 adds an Object Storage feature license for secure and efficient storage and management of massive amounts of unstructured data. This license requires a Block Storage feature license and cannot be used independently.

Platform Internationalization

New English UI

ZStack ZStone 4.3.0 provides a new English UI to improve the internationalized and standardized user experience. A language switcher in Personal Center allows users to select the UI language for their region. Simplified Chinese and English are currently supported.

Other Improvements and Fixes

  1. Displays server type on the Add Server installation and deployment page.
  2. Displays Object Storage gateway status on the server details page.
  3. Optimizes validation for block storage volume capacity.
  4. Optimizes Workflow task ID generation to resolve an issue where some monitoring data could not be displayed in the UI.
