Resource Overview and Capacity Monitoring
ZSphere provides dashboard resource statistics, data center resource topology, and resource capacity information to help administrators quickly understand overall platform status, resource distribution, and capacity pressure. Administrators can first use the dashboard to view resource status and alarm statistics for a specified data center, and then open resource overview pages to view resource hierarchy and capacity usage.
View Dashboard Resource and Alarm Statistics
View Dashboard Resource Statistics by Data Center
On the Dashboard page, select a data center to view core physical resources, virtual resources, recent access information, and alarm statistics for the data center.
Refresh and Display Rules
- Each time you open or refresh the dashboard, the page fetches and displays the latest data.
- Chart modules automatically refresh data every 30 seconds by default.
- Status charts use a consistent color scheme: green indicates normal status, red indicates abnormal status, and gray indicates other statuses.
- Percentage progress bars use blue, yellow, and red to indicate different usage levels. Blue indicates less than 60%, yellow indicates greater than or equal to 60% and less than 80%, and red indicates greater than or equal to 80%.
- Resource status cards and some utilization trend and usage statistics cards support navigation to the corresponding resource pages.
Resource Usage Statistics
The dashboard displays usage statistics for VMs, hosts, data storage, and image storage by resource type. Some cards support navigation to the corresponding resource page by clicking the resource name or statistics.
| Card | Statistics |
|---|---|
| Virtual Machine | Displays the total number of VMs, running VMs, stopped VMs, and VMs in other ready statuses. |
| Top 10 Virtual Machine CPU Utilization | Displays the top 10 VMs in the data center by CPU utilization. A VM must have VMTools installed to be included in the ranking. |
| Top 10 Virtual Machine Memory Utilization | Displays the top 10 VMs in the data center by memory utilization. A VM must have VMTools installed to be included in the ranking. |
| Host | Displays the total number of hosts, connected hosts, disconnected hosts, and hosts in other ready statuses. |
| CPU Utilization | Displays the total number of logical CPU cores and the average CPU utilization across all available hosts. |
| Memory Utilization | Displays the average memory utilization, used memory, and total memory across all available hosts. |
| Top 3 Host CPU Utilization | Displays the top 3 hosts in the data center by CPU utilization. |
| Top 3 Host Memory Utilization | Displays the top 3 hosts in the data center by memory utilization. |
| Data Storage Utilization | Displays data storage utilization, remaining available capacity, used capacity, and total capacity. You can view information for all data storage or a single data storage resource. |
| Image Storage Utilization | Displays image storage utilization, remaining available capacity, used capacity, and total capacity. You can view information for all image storage or a single image storage resource. |
Alarm Statistics
The dashboard displays unread alarm statistics for the past seven days, helping administrators quickly identify exceptions that require attention in the current data center.
| Dimension | Description |
|---|---|
| Alarm level | Displays the number of unread alarms in the past seven days by Emergent, Major, and Info levels. |
| Alarm event | Displays the event name, occurrence time, alarm count, and alarm level for events that have triggered alarms. Alarm levels are color-coded, and you can click an event to view alarm details. |
View Data Center Resource Topology
The data center resource topology shows the resource hierarchy and summary information in a data center.
Procedure
- In the navigation pane, choose . Then, select the target data center.
- On the data center details page, open the Overview tab.
- View the data center resource topology.
Results
The resource topology shows the organization of clusters, hosts, networks, data storage, VMs, and other resources in the data center, helping administrators quickly understand resource distribution.
View Resource Capacity Information
ZSphere displays capacity usage and allocation information for compute and storage resources in the Capacity Info card on resource overview pages. Administrators can view resource capacity status from root node, data center, cluster, host, data storage, and VM levels.
| Object | Monitoring Metrics and Description |
|---|---|
| Root Node | Displays the total physical CPU GHz and average utilization, total physical memory and average utilization, total physical storage and average utilization, and remaining available memory and storage across all data centers. |
| Data Center | Displays the total physical CPU GHz and average utilization, total physical memory and average utilization, total physical storage and average utilization, and remaining available memory and storage in the data center. |
| Data Storage | Displays storage utilization, storage allocation ratio, and storage distribution, including total storage resources, utilization, remaining available capacity, total capacity after overcommit, reserved capacity, allocated capacity, and remaining allocatable capacity. |
| Cluster | Displays utilization, allocation ratio, and resource distribution for all physical CPU and physical memory resources in the cluster. |
| Host | Displays utilization, allocation ratio, and resource distribution for physical CPU, physical memory, and physical storage resources on the host. |
| VM | Displays the number of CPU cores and CPU utilization, total memory, used memory, remaining available memory, total storage, used storage, and remaining available storage for the VM. |
