Object Storage
Management of Third-Party Advanced Object Storage
ZStack ZStone 5.2.6 seamlessly integrates object storage services from third-party storage platforms and provides a unified entry point for managing and monitoring resources across platforms. Enable Add Multiple Platforms in Global Settings and complete the configuration to use this feature. Users no longer need to switch frequently between platforms, simplifying storage operations and improving management efficiency.
Storage Resource
Folded EC for Object Storage Data Pools
ZStack ZStone 5.2.6 adds folded EC policies. When disks fail across nodes, folded EC efficiently protects data with redundancy across multiple nodes, significantly improving data-pool availability and storage efficiency.
Three Folded EC Policies
Starting from ZStack ZStone 5.2.6, the system provides 4+2:1, 8+2:1, and 16+2:1 folded EC policies and displays their corresponding usable capacity ratios when an object storage data pool is created. Users can choose the redundancy and usable capacity ratio most appropriate for their workloads, reducing storage costs while protecting data.
Switching from Folded EC to Standard EC
In previous versions, only the number of replicas could be changed for a storage pool. Starting from ZStack ZStone 5.2.6, the original Change Number of Replicas action is upgraded to Modify Data Security Policy. Users can switch from a folded EC policy to a standard EC policy when fault-domain requirements are met.
Optimized Data-Disk Cache Partitions
ZStack ZStone 5.2.6 includes the following optimizations for data-disk cache partitions:
Manually Specifying Cache Partitions
In previous versions, cache partitions could only be assigned automatically when data disks were created. ZStack ZStone 5.2.6 gives users more granular control by allowing a cache partition to be manually specified for each disk. Users can define the bindings between data disks and cache disks based on hardware configuration and workload requirements, addressing uneven cache allocation in multi-cache-disk environments, reducing idle resources, and improving overall storage performance.
Viewing the Number and Capacity of Cache-Disk Partitions
ZStack ZStone 5.2.6 provides a visual view of cache partition usage, capacity per partition, and bound data disks. This eliminates the need for backend CLI commands and simplifies O&M.
