SNMP Monitoring and Notification Integration
ZSphere supports integration with third-party monitoring platforms through SNMP. Third-party platforms can use MIB files to collect resource monitoring data or parse alarm messages. SNMP Trap receivers can also be used as alarm endpoints to receive alarm messages pushed by the platform.
Key SNMP Concepts
- SNMP Protocol
- A protocol used for managing devices on a network.
- Network Management System
- A system that monitors and manages network devices through SNMP. In this feature, the network management system corresponds to the third-party monitoring platform.
- SNMP Agent
- An agent process in managed objects that responds to requests from the network management system or proactively sends Trap information. In this feature, the SNMP Agent role is provided by the ZSphere management node.
- MIB Library
- A database maintained by the SNMP Agent that defines managed object attributes. Third-party platforms collect monitoring data or parse alarm messages based on the MIB library.
- SNMP Trap Receiver
- A third-party server that receives alarm messages from ZSphere. It can be added as an alarm endpoint and associated with alarms.
Notes
The SNMP components were updated in ZSphere 4.10.25. If you upgraded from an earlier version and have integrated with an external monitoring platform, download the new MIB file and update it to the external monitoring platform to avoid missing or abnormal monitoring data.
Configure SNMP Management
Download MIB Files
MIB files are used by third-party platforms to collect ZSphere resource monitoring data and parse alarm messages.
Procedure
- In the navigation pane, choose .
- On the SNMP Configurations tab, click Download MIB File.
Manage SNMP Trap Receivers
Procedure
- In the navigation pane, choose .
-
Manage SNMP Trap receivers.
- Click Add SNMP Trap Receiver to add a receiver.
- Select a receiver and click to modify receiver configuration.
- Select a receiver and click to delete the receiver.
Note: If the selected SNMP Trap receiver has been added as an alarm endpoint, the corresponding endpoint is deleted at the same time.
