Configuration Requirements

This topic describes the basic environment configurations required for the operation of ZStack ZStone.

Network Environment

Before you install ZStack ZStone, you must prepare the basic hardware and software environments based on the configuration requirements. Incorrect environmental configurations may make you unable to complete subsequent environment deployment or cause exceptions when ZStack ZStone is in service.

图 2. Network architecture diagram–hyper-converged deployment

The network architecture is illustrated as follows:
  • The management network switch uses dual 1 GB (Gigabit) Ethernet, primarily for managing hard ware resources. In scenarios with abundant network resources, dual 10 GB Ethernet can also be adopted.
  • The storage external or internal network switch employs dual 10 GB Ethernet, mainly for carrying storage traffic. Considering the I/O load requirements of the storage network, we recommend using dual 10 GB Ethernet links.
  • The enterprise core switch utilizes dual 10 GB Ethernet, primarily for providing application services externally. If the business load is not high, 1 GB Ethernet can also be used.
We recommend setting up the network environment according to the following requirements:
  • Management network: There are no restrictions on the management network.
  • Public network: We recommend using 10 GB NICs. For small-scale configurations, you can reuse the storage cluster network. For large-scale configurations (10 nodes or more), we recommend running the public network and storage cluster network on separate NICs.
  • Storage cluster network: We recommend using 10 GB NICs and configuring LACP Bond.

Software Requirements

To install and deploy ZStack ZStone must meet the following software requirements:
  • All nodes must have the latest version of ISO (H76C, at least in expert mode) installed.
  • Server configurations must meet the requirements for distributed storage.
Note: ZStack ZStone prior to 4.2.0 version still depend on management node components, including ZSHA2 (required for dual management node mode) and MySQL.

Hardware Requirements

The following table describes the configuration requirements over servers and other hardware devices for the installation and deployment of ZStack ZStone.
