Add Local Storage

Before you begin

  • Plan the mount path for the local storage on the host disk in advance.
  • Check the quantity and type limitations between the cluster and the data storage to be attached. For more information, see Clusters and Data Storage.

Procedure

  1. In the navigation pane, choose Inventory > Data Storage.
  2. Select the target data center and click Actions > Add Data Storage.
  3. In the Add Data Storage dialog, configure the following options:

    Basic Information

    Option Description
Name Enter a name for the local storage.
Description Enter a brief description for the data storage.
    Type Select Local Storage.
Data Center Displays the data center that contains the local storage.

    Configurations

    Option Description
Cluster Select the cluster where the local storage will be attached.
Mount Path Enter the mount path for the local storage on the host disk.
Note: System directories such as /, /dev, /proc, /sys, /usr/bin, and /bin cannot be used. Using system directories might cause hosts to work improperly.
Host Disk Select the unmounted or unpartitioned free disks on hosts that are in a "Connected" status under the selected cluster.
Note: Configuring a free disk formats the selected disk and completely clears all partitions, file systems, and data on the disk.
If host disks are left unselected, the specified mount path will be added as the local directory.
  4. Review the configuration and click OK.
