Deployment and Login

Platform Service is the unified entry point in ZSphere for deploying and managing component services. When deploying ZCenter, the platform creates a service VM based on the installation package and resource configuration, and installs the component.

After ZCenter is deployed through Platform Service, the platform automatically backs up the ZCenter database at 00:00 every day and synchronizes the backup file to the ZSphere management node. The system retains only the latest automatic backup so that data can be restored if the ZCenter database fails.

This chapter first describes how to use Platform Service in ZSphere to deploy ZCenter, and then click Go on the service page to open the ZCenter management interface.

Deploy ZCenter Service

Upload the ZCenter installation package and deploy ZCenter Service in ZSphere.

  • You are logged in to the ZSphere management interface as the admin user.
  • You have obtained the ZCenter installation package in QCOW2 format.
  • An image storage, host, and data storage with normal status and sufficient capacity are available.
  • A distributed port group is available for the service VM. To upload the package from a URL, make sure that the management node can access the URL.
  1. In the navigation pane of the ZSphere management interface, choose Platform Service > All Services.
  2. On the ZCenter Service card, click Install.
  3. In the deployment drawer, click Upload Package and configure the package upload settings.
    Option Description
    Upload Method

Select how to upload the installation package:

    • URL: Upload the package from an HTTP or HTTPS URL that ends with .qcow2.
    • Local Upload: Select a QCOW2 package from your local computer.
URL/Installation Package Enter the package URL or select a local package. The displayed option depends on the selected upload method.
Image Storage Select the image storage where the service package is stored.
  4. Click Upload and wait for the upload to complete.
After the upload is complete, click Reupload if you need to replace the installation package.
  5. In the Deploy ZCenter Service step, click Deploy.
  6. In the Deploy ZCenter Service dialog box, configure the service VM.
    Option Description
Service Name Enter a name for ZCenter Service.
Host UUID Select the host on which the service VM runs. Only enabled and connected hosts are displayed.
CPU Specify the number of CPUs for the service VM. Default: 8.
Memory Specify the memory capacity for the service VM. Default: 16 GB.
Data Storage UUID Select a data storage compatible with the target host. The system disk of the service VM is created on this data storage.
Distributed Port Group Select the distributed port group for the service VM. The network must be available on the target host.
    IP Address

Configure the IPv4 address of the service VM:

    • If DHCP is enabled on the distributed port group, leave this option empty to have the system automatically assign an address.
    • If IP address management is enabled on the distributed port group, the manually specified address must be within the selected network segment.
Netmask If DHCP is not enabled on the distributed port group, enter the netmask for the service VM IP address.
Gateway If DHCP is not enabled on the distributed port group, enter the gateway address used by the service VM.
  7. Click Deploy.
ZCenter Service uses the time zone configured on the ZSphere platform at the time of deployment.

The platform creates the service VM and installs ZCenter. After deployment, you remain in the ZSphere management interface. Click View Overview to view service status and configuration information. Click Go on the service page to access ZCenter. Subsequent environment connection and centralized management operations are performed in the ZCenter management interface.

Note: If the package upload fails, click Reupload to upload the package again. If service deployment fails, click Deploy, and then click Clear and Redeploy in the Redeploy ZCenter Service dialog box. Reconfigure and deploy the service.

Log In to ZCenter

From the Platform Service page in ZSphere, open ZCenter and log in with a local account.

  • ZCenter Service has been deployed.
  • You are logged in to the ZSphere management interface and can view the ZCenter Service page.
  • Your client can access the ZCenter management interface.
  • You have obtained the username and password of a local ZCenter account.
  1. On the navigation pane of the ZSphere management interface, choose Platform Service > ZCenter Service.
  2. On the ZCenter Service page, click Go in the page banner to open the ZCenter login page.

Alternatively, enter the ZCenter access address directly in your browser. The default format is http://ZCenter_IP:8100, where ZCenter_IP is the service IP address.

  3. On the ZCenter login page, select the Local Login tab and enter your username and password.
When first using the initial system administrator account, the username is admin and the initial password is password. If the password has been changed, use the updated password.
  4. Click Log In.

After you log in, you have switched from the ZSphere management interface to the ZCenter management interface. Available menus and operations depend on your account permissions.

  • After logging in with the initial password for the first time, click your username in the upper-right corner, select Account Security, and follow the prompts to change the initial password.
  • If a ZSphere environment to be managed has not been connected, an administrator can connect it under System Configuration > Management Nodes. After the environment is connected and resource synchronization is complete, its resources are available in Inventory.
