Licenses and License Pools
The license for ZCenter itself and the licenses for connected ZSphere environments are managed separately. The platform license page displays license information for ZCenter and the license status of its tenant module. A license pool provides shared main license quota for the ZSphere environments that join it. Check the platform license's authorized CPU count and the pool's shared quota separately.
Under Licensing in ZCenter, use Current License to view platform license information, obtain request keys, and upload licenses. Use License Pool to manage shared quota and the environments that have joined the pool. To use shared licensing, first import a license pool license. After connecting the target environments, add eligible environments to the pool as needed.
Manage the Platform License
View license information for ZCenter itself and the license status of its tenant module, obtain a ZCenter request key, and upload an add-on module license.
Perform the following operations as a super administrator in the ZCenter management interface. In the navigation pane, choose to open the License page.
View License Status
Check the platform license status, Version, Authorized CPUs, and Expiration Date to review the platform's current license. The authorized CPU count here belongs to the ZCenter platform license.
In the ZCenter Tenant Module area, check the module's Status separately. The tenant module supports organization management, resource ownership, and Cloud Operations Center. Before using these features, verify that the module is Licensed.
Obtain a ZCenter Request Key
To apply for a ZCenter add-on module license, first obtain the corresponding request key.
- Click Download next to Request Key.
- In the Download Request Key dialog box, set Request Key Type to ZCenter Request Key.
- Click OK and save the request key file to apply for the corresponding license.
Upload a ZCenter Add-on Module License
After obtaining the license file, upload it as follows. Use the same entry point for subsequent license updates.
- On the License page, click Upload License.
- Set License Type to ZCenter Add-on Modules.
- In the License area, select or drag in the license file and check the license information displayed in the dialog box. If the file is reported as invalid, select the correct file.
- Click OK.
- After the upload succeeds, return to the page and check the corresponding license information and the license status of ZCenter Tenant Module.
Manage License Pools
Import a license pool license, enable shared licensing for ZSphere environments, view quota usage, and remove environments from the pool as needed.
A license pool shares main license quota across multiple ZSphere environments. After an environment joins the pool, the license server provides the main license for its management node. Importing a license pool license does not add environments to the pool; add the target environments before they can use shared licensing.
Perform the following operations as a super administrator in the ZCenter management interface. Upload license pool licenses under . Manage environments and shared quota under .
Prepare and Import a License Pool License
- In the navigation pane, choose .
- Click Download next to Request Key, set Request Key Type to License Pool Request Key, and click OK. Save the request key file to apply for a license pool license.
- After obtaining the license pool license file, click Upload License on the Current License page.
- Set License Type to License Pool. In the License area, select or drag in the corresponding license file and click OK.
- After the upload succeeds, choose and check the status, quota, and validity period in License Pool Information and Usage Overview.
To update the license for an existing pool, upload the license pool file from the Current License page, then check the license pool information.
Add ZSphere Environments to the License Pool
Before adding environments, verify that the pool has a valid license and that the target environments meet the following conditions:
- The environment is connected to ZCenter, its type is ZStack ZSphere, and its connection is normal.
- The environment's main license type matches the pool, and the pool's available main license quota is at least the environment's used quota.
- The management node is not licensed with a UKey. Management node environments licensed with a UKey cannot currently join the license pool.
- Under , click Add Environment in the Main License Configuration area.
- Locate the target environment by management node name and check its node type, environment status, license type, and used quota.
- Select the environments to add to the pool and click Confirm.
- After the environments are added successfully, check them in Main License Configuration and review the quota in Usage Overview. If an addition fails, check the affected environments and failure reasons, resolve the issues, and try again.
View Quota and Validity Period
In License Pool Information, check the pool status, Issue Date, and Expiration Date. If the page reports that quota will expire soon, check the quota and date in the message and prepare a license update in time.
In Usage Overview, check the following information using the license types and units displayed on the page:
| Information | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Total Quota | View the license quota provided by the pool. |
| Used Quota | View the shared quota used by environments that have joined the pool. |
| Available Quota | Determine whether shared quota remains available for environments. Before adding an environment, also compare this amount with the target environment's used quota. |
In Main License Configuration, review the environments that have joined the pool, checking their names, connection status, and quota usage. No environments have joined the license pool indicates that no environments are using shared licensing from this pool.
Remove Environments and Handle Disconnections
Remove an environment from the pool when it no longer needs shared licensing. After removal, the environment can no longer use licenses from the pool. Before proceeding, ensure that the environment's subsequent licensing needs have been addressed.
- In Main License Configuration, select the target environments and click Remove.
- In the confirmation dialog box, check the environment names and read the removal message before confirming.
- After the operation, check whether the environments have been removed from the pool and review quota usage. If some environments could not be removed, check the affected environments in the failure list.
If the page reports disconnected environments, locate them under and check their connection status and connection settings. To remove a disconnected environment when Force Remove is available, check the target environment and read the confirmation message about releasing quota and clearing bindings before proceeding.
