Scenario
- Product: ZCF
- Component: ZStack Cloud
- Version: 5.4.x
- Operating system: H84R
- Deployment: Dual management nodes
- Trigger: The environment has a Ceph image-repository local image-upload issue that requires a platform-version upgrade.
Symptoms
- The 5.4.x platform has a Ceph image-repository local image-upload issue.
- ZStack Cloud must be upgraded to 5.4.7.
- This change does not upgrade the kernel, QEMU, or libvirt.
Assessment
- Use the precheck script and resource checks to confirm that the environment is healthy before upgrade.
- Confirm management-platform access and normal resource state after upgrade.
- Verify that local image upload is restored.
Cause
The direct objective is to resolve the Ceph image-repository local image-upload issue in the 5.4.x environment, so only the ZStack Cloud platform version must be upgraded to 5.4.7.
Resolution
- Preparation
- Risk level: High.
- Upgrade only ZStack Cloud; do not upgrade the kernel or virtualization components.
- Check V3 compatibility, Ceph compatibility, VM status, VM resource use, zsha2 status, database size, HTTPS configuration, and SSH/IPMI upgrade methods.
- Run zstack-upgrade-check-master.
- Disable global high availability.
- Back up databases on both management nodes.
- Upgrade
- Download the upgrade script and ISO:
- cloud-upgrade-scripts_0.3.x.tar.gz
- ZStack-Cloud-x86_64-DVD-5.4.7-h84r.iso
- Expected result: Upgrade files are ready.
- Upload the script and ISO to both management nodes.
- Expected result: Both management nodes have upgrade materials.
- Extract the upgrade script:
~~~bash mkdir -p /root/upgrade && tar -xzvf /root/cloud-upgrade-scripts_v0.3.tar.gz -C /root/upgrade ~~~
- Expected result: The script directory is extracted.
- Copy the ISO into the cloud-upgrade-scripts directory.
- Expected result: The script execution directory contains the target ISO.
- Run the upgrade script:
~~~bash bash upgrade/cloud-upgrade-scripts/cloud-upgrade.sh ZStack-Cloud-x86_64-DVD-5.4.7-h84r.iso ~~~ Select execution items as prompted, provide the admin password, and complete configuration.
- Expected result: ZStack Cloud is upgraded to 5.4.7 through grayscale deployment.
- Enable global high availability.
- Expected result: Platform upgrade is complete and normal operation is restored.
Verification
- Verify normal management-node and platform-page access.
- Verify normal host and resource status.
- If a host does not reconnect automatically after upgrade, reconnect it manually.
- Verify that local image upload is restored.
Risks and rollback
- Risk: Management nodes are unavailable during upgrade and new resources cannot be provisioned.
- Risk: Hosts can require manual reconnection after upgrade.
- Risk: Browser cache can prevent normal domain access after a UI framework upgrade.
- Risk: If ZBS is primary storage, upgrade it to the matching version.
- Risk level: High.
- Rollback: Decouple dual management to single management, restore the previous repository and installer, restore the database, and recover platform access.
