Issue/Introduction

This article describes how to troubleshoot a Windows VM instance that cannot identify a newly added volume. It applies to the initial diagnosis and resolution of similar issues in ZStack Cloud.

Environment

  • Product: ZCF
  • Component: Cloud
  • Version: 3.x-5.5.30

Possible causes

GuestTools is not installed on the VM instance, so the corresponding driver is missing.

Resolution

  1. Install GuestTools on the Windows VM instance. For detailed steps, see the Windows Server 2008 R2 to 2019 template packaging documentation for GuestTools.
  2. Add the volume, and click Resource Center > Cloud Resource Pool > Virtual Resources > Volumes to open the Volumes page. Click the volume name to open its details page, and disable VirtioSCSI.
  1. Sign in to the VM instance and rescan the volume.
