Issue/Introduction

This article describes how to troubleshoot a USB device that the cloud platform cannot identify. It applies to the initial diagnosis and resolution of similar issues in ZStack Cloud.

Environment

  • Product: ZCF
  • Component: Cloud
  • Version: 3.x-5.5.30

Possible causes

The iSerial field of the USB device is too long, preventing the cloud platform from identifying the device.

Resolution

  1. Run the following command to query details about all USB devices and determine whether the host identifies the USB device:
  [root@localhost ~]# lsusb.py -u
  1. Run the following command to view details about a single USB device and check whether the iSerial field is too long:
  [root@localhost ~]# lsusb -v -d  1908:1320
  1. Run the following commands to increase the length of the iSerial field in the UsbDeviceVO database table:
Note:

Before modifying the database table schema, back up the management node database and confirm that the operation applies to the current version. It is recommended to perform this operation under the guidance of technical support.

  [root@localhost ~]# mysql -uroot -pzstack.mysql.password
  MariaDB [(none)]> ALTER TABLE `zstack`.`UsbDeviceVO` modify column iSerial varchar(1024) DEFAULT NULL;
  1. Upgrade the cloud platform to version 4.0 or later to resolve the issue.
