Issue/Introduction

This article describes how to troubleshoot an SSH connection to a host that fails with This key is not known by any other names. It applies to the initial diagnosis and resolution of similar issues in ZStack Cloud.

• Version: 3.x-5.5.30

Symptoms

An SSH connection to the host fails with This key is not known by any other names.

Possible causes

The host was reinstalled or generated a new key, causing the key to change.

Resolution

• After confirming that the target host address is trusted, open /root/.ssh/known_hosts and delete the old record for the corresponding host. Then reconnect over SSH and verify the new host key fingerprint.
