Issue/Introduction

This article helps troubleshoot cases where the receiver or relay node option in the ZSphere migration protection process is locked.

Symptoms

• The receiver or relay node option is locked on the protection process configuration page and cannot be selected.
• After reconnecting to the target ZSphere environment or reloading target servers, verify the migration service status and port connectivity.

Environment

• Product: ZVF
• Version: 4.10.x
• Component: ZMigrate
• Affected object: ZMigrate
• Scenario: For migration and cloning issues, confirm the current version, deployment type, storage type, and operation timeline.

Possible causes

• Target ZSphere resource synchronization is incomplete, and the migration tool does not load available receiver or relay nodes.
• The migration service port, target ZSphere environment API connection, or time synchronization is abnormal.
• The node role, architecture, or network does not meet the requirements of the current migration task.

Remediation

Perform the following checks in order, and record the affected object, occurrence time, complete error message, and current status.

1. Synchronize target ZSphere environment resources again, and confirm that the target server list refreshes normally.
2. Check connectivity from the migration tool to the target ZSphere environment management port and migration service port.
3. Confirm the candidate node status, architecture, network, and storage availability, and exclude nodes that are under maintenance or disconnected.
4. Retain the migration task ID, source object, target node, and error screenshot. Submit migration tool logs when necessary.
5. Before changing the migration configuration, confirm that no migration task remains unfinished and verify the actual runtime location of the affected VM.

Resolution

1. Reconnect to the target ZSphere environment and reload target server resources.
2. After confirming that the target node status, network, and storage are normal, return to the migration configuration page and select the receiver or relay node.

Verification

• The target server list refreshes normally, and the receiver or relay node option can be selected.
• Connectivity and resource checks pass before a migration task is created.
