Issue/Introduction
This article helps troubleshoot ZSphere installation failures caused by disks not being detected or an unsupported RAID controller driver.
Symptoms
- Disks cannot be detected during ZSphere installation.
- Installation on an H3C server reports
Failed to start udev wait for complete. - A failed RAID controller must initialize its virtual disk before startup can continue.
Environment
- Product: ZVF
- Version: 4.10.10
- Component: ZSphere
- Affected object: installation and deployment
- Scenario: For host and hardware issues, confirm the current version, deployment type, storage type, and operation timeline.
Possible causes
- The current ZSphere ISO does not include the target RAID controller driver.
- The RAID controller virtual disk is not initialized, or the controller status is abnormal.
- The server hardware model is recent and requires ZStack official technical support to confirm a compatible driver or customized ISO.
Resolution
Perform the following checks in order, and record the affected object, occurrence time, complete error message, and current status.
- Record the server model, RAID controller model, firmware version, and ZSphere ISO version.
- In the BIOS or RAID management interface, confirm that the virtual disk is initialized and healthy.
- Before using the installation media, confirm that the hardware is on the compatibility list for the current version.
- When a driver is missing, collect hardware information and contact ZStack official technical support to confirm a compatible driver or customized ISO. Do not replace drivers independently.
Remediation
- In the BIOS or RAID management interface, confirm that virtual disk initialization is complete and that its status is healthy.
- ZStack recommends using supported drivers or installation media that match the current hardware and kernel version. When compatibility is unconfirmed, obtain remediation advice from ZStack official technical support.
Verification
- The installer can detect the target virtual disk.
- After installation, the system starts normally and the storage controller operates stably.
