Issue/Introduction

This article describes how to troubleshoot excessive host memory usage. It applies to the initial diagnosis and resolution of similar issues in ZStack Cloud.

Environment

• Product: ZCF
• Component: Cloud
• Version: 3.x-5.5.30

Possible causes

The buffer/cache value is too high because the cache has not been released.

Resolution

1. Run sync to force buffered data to be written to disk.
2. Run the following commands on the host in sequence to release cache space:

  [root@localhost ~]# echo 1 > /proc/sys/vm/drop_caches;
  [root@localhost ~]# echo 2 > /proc/sys/vm/drop_caches;
  [root@localhost ~]# echo 3 > /proc/sys/vm/drop_caches
