Issue
Use this article to troubleshoot black screens in the console of ZSphere Windows VMs.
Symptoms
- Opening the VM console displays a black screen.
- The issue can persist after enabling Hyper-V or changing the boot mode.
- Confirm whether the console port on the management node is reachable.
Environment
- Product: ZVF
- Verified version: 4.10.x
- Component: ZSphere
- Affected object: console
- Scenario: VM runtime issues. Confirm the current version, deployment topology, storage type, and operation timeline.
Possible causes
- Guest OS display settings, graphics drivers, or Hyper-V configuration cause the console to display no image.
- A console-proxy port, management-node service, or browser connection is abnormal.
- The VM boot mode, CD-ROM boot, or system process state is abnormal.
Resolution
Perform the following checks in sequence, and record the affected objects, occurrence time, complete error messages, and current state.
- First confirm that the VM is actually running and that the service network and remote desktop are reachable.
- Check the console-proxy port and the status of related services on the management node.
- Access the console from another browser or network to rule out a frontend connection issue.
- Record the VM configuration before any change, and adjust Hyper-V, graphics, and boot settings with caution.
Remediation
- First confirm that the VM service network and remote access work normally to avoid mistaking a console display issue for a VM fault.
- No reusable remediation is established for Hyper-V or boot-mode changes. If you need to change the VM configuration, back up the original configuration first and contact ZStack technical support for confirmation.
Verification
- The console opens normally and continuously displays the VM screen.
- The VM service network, remote access, and management-service logs have no similar exceptions.
